Of all the treatments available in advanced aesthetics, PRP and PRF stand apart for a simple reason: they use nothing that isn’t already within you. No synthetic compounds, no foreign substances, no external chemistry. Just your own blood, processed to concentrate its most powerful regenerative components, and returned to your skin. At Create Your Wellness in Watford, PRP and PRF are offered as standalone treatments and as powerful combinations with microneedling and other advanced therapies.

PRP — Platelet Rich Plasma — is created by drawing a small amount of your blood (typically 10 to 20ml) and processing it in a centrifuge. This separates the blood into its components: red blood cells, white blood cells, and plasma. The plasma — which is rich in platelets and the growth factors they contain — is extracted and prepared for use.

The growth factors within PRP include PDGF (Platelet-Derived Growth Factor), VEGF (Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor), TGF-β (Transforming Growth Factor beta), and EGF (Epidermal Growth Factor), among others. These signalling proteins stimulate fibroblast activity, collagen production, angiogenesis (new blood vessel formation), and tissue repair.

PRF — Platelet Rich Fibrin — is the evolution of PRP. The key difference lies in the centrifugation process: PRF is spun at a lower speed without an anticoagulant, which allows a fibrin matrix to form. This fibrin acts as a slow-release delivery system, releasing growth factors over a period of 7 to 10 days rather than all at once.

The sustained release of growth factors through PRF may offer enhanced and more prolonged stimulation of collagen and tissue repair, making it a potentially more powerful regenerative tool. PRF also contains a higher concentration of white blood cells and stem cells than standard PRP, contributing further to its regenerative potential.

The combination of microneedling with PRP or PRF is one of the most powerful regenerative protocols available in aesthetics. The micro-channels created by the needling device allow the growth factor-rich plasma to penetrate far more deeply into the dermis than could be achieved with topical application alone. The biological stimulus from both treatments reinforces the other, creating results significantly greater than either treatment alone.

PRP and PRF treatments at our Watford clinic are always preceded by a thorough consultation and health assessment. All blood draw and preparation equipment is single-use and sterile. Your practitioner will discuss the most appropriate protocol for your goals — whether as a standalone injectable treatment, combined with microneedling, or as part of a comprehensive skin rejuvenation programme.
